The SLABSHOT, based on a Suzuki GSX-R 1000 K9

Modern performance with old school looks.

This project was born out of the love of old school race bikes & the frustration of how ugly modern sports bikes have become, the challenge was to see wether it’s possible to create a good looking build based on modern sports bike geometry, keeping the improved handling & performance of the newer bike while adding some 90’s style!

Inspiration for the build came from the early endurance Slabside & Slingshot GSX-R’s & so the name Slabshot was born!

Once the bike was stripped down a custom tank & tail unit were made to flow into the frame & into each other, creating the classic straight line through the bike from front to back. The frame & swing arm were soda blast & then brushed by hand to get that classic 90’s feel. Lots of custom parts were fabricated in the workshop, the minimal aluminium dash, rear sets, billet top yoke & aluminium fuel cell. Performance upgrades were added such as Brembo Monoblock calipers, HEL master cylinder & clutch perch, braided lines, thumb brake a a lovely Nitron shock at the rear.

The artwork was designed to emulate the glorious 90’s neon colour schemes, referencing various bikes, the early GSX-R’s, YZF 750’s & Fireblades, & proudly incorporating the name SLABSHOT!

A track weapon but fully road legal.
